Rainwater Harvesting and/or Flood Prevention
ABS Void Formworks can be used to construct underground water cisterns. The space constructed with the void formworks can be used for harvesting rainwater and/or for flood prevention purposes.

When constructing underground cisterns, one of the greatest advantages of ABS Void Formworks is the significant cost savings achieved when building the reinforced concrete slab. While the foundation and surrounding shear walls are constructed similarly to other solutions, the use of ABS Void Formworks results in a top slab with much greater load-bearing capacity, making the construction far more economical compared to traditional column-beam-slab designs.
Since the top slab will be located underground, it must withstand both the weight of the topsoil and additional loads—such as vehicle traffic if the surface is used as a car park. Compared to conventional column-beam combinations within the cistern, the reinforced concrete structure created with ABS Void Formworks is both more durable and cost-effective.
Another advantage of using ABS Void Formworks is the protection of the cistern’s concrete ceiling and columns with durable plastic sheathing to guard against humidity. This tight plastic covering prolongs the lifespan of the concrete structure by shielding it from humid air, significantly reducing the risk of deterioration.
