Elevator/Staircase Hallway Fills

Elevator/Staircase Hallway Fills

In office buildings with modular raised floors, variations in level between elevator/staircase hallways and office spaces are eliminated in the most economical and lightweight way using ABS Void Formworks. Since the fill is hollow, it can also accommodate MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) installation passages.

Most modern office buildings require “modular raised floors” that rest on steel pedestals. This technique is very popular, especially given the increasing number of communication systems and ever-changing office layouts. In addition, from a construction point of view, it is always more economical and practical to construct a flat slab in any given building.

Combining these two factors creates a minor challenge for common elevator and staircase hallways in such buildings: all common hallways on each floor must be raised to the height required for office spaces. Since these hallways are typically covered with natural stone or ceramic tiles, a concrete surface is preferred. ABS Void Formworks offer the lightest, most economical, and practical solution for constructing raised concrete floors. Additionally, because the fill is 95% empty, it can be used to accommodate MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) installation passages between different office areas.
