Landscape Fills
ABS Void Formworks are preferred not only because they are the lightest fill application but also because they do not interrupt the drainage slope. This makes them the ideal choice for constructing hardscape surfaces in landscape projects, while completely eliminating the risk of long-term cracks.
With increasing congestion in today’s cities, the demand for green spaces is also on the rise. One way to address this need is by utilizing rooftops, podiums, and terraces for gardens. While this idea is simple, it presents significant engineering challenges—particularly in terms of total building weight and drainage.
ABS Void Formworks provide a practical and robust solution for constructing hardscape surfaces in elevated gardens. The formworks can be placed on top of or adjacent to inclined drainage sheets without obstructing the flow of drain water. This allows landscape architects to plan freely, without worrying about hard-surface walkways interfering with drainage.
ABS Void Formworks are also highly practical from a construction perspective. Not only do they enable the surface to be constructed with a single pour of concrete, but they also facilitate the construction of side walls. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations can be routed through the empty space beneath the concrete surface formed using ABS Void Formworks. The concrete surface can then be finished with any material specified by the landscape architect, as the structure is exceptionally strong and resistant to cracking. In contrast, other landscape fill applications tend to be heavier, more time-consuming, and significantly more expensive.
