About ABS Void Formworks

ABS Void Formworks are disposable plastic formworks that create reinforced concrete raised floors up to 300 cm. They are used for lightweight fill applications including sunken slab fills, landscape fills, amenity floors, inverted beam fills, foundation footing fills, ramps, swimming pool decks, crawl spaces, low-voltage rooms and rainwater harvesting. ABS Plus covers adjustable heights from 20 cm to 300 cm. ABS Level covers fixed heights of 5 cm, 10 cm and 15 cm. More than 3,500,000 m² has been installed worldwide.

The system creates a mostly hollow raised floor so the structure carries topping concrete rather than the full mass of conventional fill. Installation can reach about 20 m²/hour for adjustable units and 100 m²/hour for fixed-height units. ABS YAPI has manufactured these systems in Istanbul since 2011 and supplies projects in more than 20 countries.

Compared with compacted soil, gravel or EPS block fills, void formwork reduces dead load, truck movements and on-site labour while leaving a service void for MEP. Typical live-load capacity at 100 cm height with 5 cm topping is around 55 kN/m². The Wide Base System increases ground contact on soft natural soil.
